I would have to get out close the door sit back in then it would work fine? It was fun driving the SMG at the track. While I owned the car for 8 months I had 2 occurences when the car would not want to go into first. I also owned a 06' SMG w/ competition package. Other than the SMG his car has performed perfectly during his first 50k miles. He is currently awaiting having to replace the hydro unit again!! this time not under warranty $$$. My co-workers 06 e46 M3 SMG (and our show car) has 50k miles and he has already replaced the clutch once and re flashed the smg ecu a couple of times and replaced his smg hydrolic unit once. My Current e36 M3 has 180k miles and shifts beautifully. I did tons of auto-x's and track days with that car. Tranny was fine when i sold the car with 180k miles. I replaced my clutch on my 88' e30 M3 at 130k miles. The date is cast on the side of the tranny. I race my 1968 1602 with a 26 year old tranny and a stock clutch. Here's some facts and food for tought about long term SMG ownership IMHO. Ive seen cars go over 100k with them.WOW! Really? Impressive.
